At Hay Early Learning Centre, children interact within mixed age groups. This encourages leadership and modeling for the older children and extension and guidance for the younger ones.

Our Aims

Our childcare program values play, acknowledging it can support learning across physical, social, emotional and intellectual areas of development. Children’s development in literacy, numeracy and early childhood skills is also enhanced through play.

It is a common misconception that long day care centres only provide child minding and recreation.  While we strive to provide the best care possible for children, the key function is around strategically designed programs that provide age relevant educational development.

About the Centre

The Centre is funded through State and Federal Government funding and also through fees. Hay Early Learning is managed by a Committee. This Committee is responsible for the financial and administrative matters concerning the Centre, as well as for the employment of appropriate staff and fundraising.

National Quality Framework

The National Quality Framework is made up of:

  • The National Quality Standard
  • A national quality rating and assessment process
  • Streamlined regulatory arrangements
  • A national body jointly governed by the Australian Government and state and territory governments (ACECQA) to oversee the new system

The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a high national benchmark for early childhood education and care and outside school hours care services in Australia.

The NQS includes 7 quality areas that are important outcomes for children.

Services are assessed and rated by their regulatory authority against the NQS, and given a rating for each of the 7 quality areas and an overall rating based on these results.

The Rating System

The assessment will be undertaken by the Regulatory Authority in NSW, which is currently the Department of Education and Communities (DEC).

Hay Early Learning Centre is currently rated as Meeting the National Quality Standard.

Family Involvement

Family involvement in the Centre is encouraged and valued.

Some ways that families can take an active role in the Centre are:

  • Joining the management committee
  • Donating materials
  • Volunteering to help around the Centre
  • Providing feedback about the educational program and reviewing policies.

Enrolment Procedure

The Centre is available for permanent bookings or casual use by all families. There are 24 places available at the Centre and the Nominated Supervisor and Management Committee will endeavor to satisfy every family’s needs for childcare within the constraints of the Priority of Access Guidelines as set out by the funding bodies.

Any child who does not receive a position will go on a waiting list and will be contacted when a position becomes available.

What Our Families are Saying

As new enrolments at the Early Learning Centre in 2021, my daughters settled in quickly and easily, aided by the kind, caring and helpful educators. I feel comfortable and supported leaving the girls in their care.

Communication has been fantastic and I only wish there were more places available so everyone who needs it can access quality daycare.

Suzie Holbery - Parent

Lizzy has been so helpful during our time at ELC, she is always happy to help with the juggle of our kids and their bags into the car and making sure we have all our belongings packed and ready to go. Lizzy’s friendly, happy and organised nature really shines through as an Educator.

Thanks so much Lizzy, we really appreciate it.

Soph - Parent

Kaitlynne has been great at Early Learning, we were a little worried about Cruz settling into care, but she has made his transition a breeze. She always tells us about his day, has all his belongings ready to go and has created a daily news report on Storypark for us to see him playing with his friends. She even documents his sleep information onto paper for me to take home to Soph… in case I forget.
